CNC Turning vs. CNC Milling: An Optimized Solution for Your Custom Machining Project
CNC lathe turning and CNC milling are two complimentary metalworking services provided by Vescio. The essential difference is that a lathe rotates the metal workpiece against a cutting tool, making the turning process more suitable for cylindrical parts. It is an extremely precise, fast and efficient machining process, suitable for many high-volume industrial machining applications.
In contrast, a CNC mill features a stationary workpiece, spinning its cutting tool against the workpiece’s exterior similar to how a sculptor chisels a statue. However, unlike a sculptor, our CNC milling equipment can operate at speeds well over 10,000 rpm while making precision metal cuts at scales down to thousandths of an inch.
